Probably the most anticipated automobile for October 2020 will take place tomorrow when Mahindra will announce new Thar’s price in India. The hardcore offroader was revealed by the Indian carmaker on 15 August and since then has revealed almost every detail about the vehicle, except for the price. Mahindra will also start accepting Thar’s bookings in India from tomorrow. In its new avatar, the off-roader gets several styling updates, improved interior layout with modern features, and new engine-gearbox combinations. Mahindra Thar’s only direct rival will be BS6 Force Gurkha which is expected to hit the markets by the end of this year.
The second-generation Mahindra Thar is underpinned by an all-new platform but sports the predecessor’s boxy silhouette. However, it has received a plethora of new design elements like a new bumper, new grille, raised fenders, redesigned tail lights with LED signature, 18-inch alloy wheels, etc. The new Thar has a wider track for improved handling and customers will have the option of two seating layouts — six-seater and four-seater. Mahindra will retail Thar across three trim levels — AX, AX Optional, and LX.
2020 Mahindra Thar is substantially feature-rich as compared to the first-gen model. The SUV will be available with provisions like a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, semi-digital instrument console with a multi-information display, steering mounted controls, AC, cruise control, key-less entry, first-in-class Adventure Statistics display, etc. The SUV also gets several safety provisions like dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP with roll-over mitigation, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, etc.
